Kathleen, a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduation, she taught 5th grade at Morris Grove Elementary in Chapel Hill for seven years. After Kathleen’s first year of teaching, she was recognized as Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools’ Promising New Teacher of the Year. In recent years, she served as lead teacher of her PLC, faculty chair and member of the SIT, and she mentored student teachers. In addition, Kathleen has assisted in planning school events such as the African American Read-In and Curriculum Nights. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year for the 2017-2018 school year. KATHLEEN IS A FELLOW IN THE NCSU COHORT
The NCSU Cohort is a Master of School Administration program modeled after NC State’s award-winning and nationally-recognized, Northeast Leadership Academy. A grant from the state of NC through the North Carolina Alliance for School Leadership Development (NCASLD) funds the new NCSU Cohort, including full scholarships for the NCSU Cohort’s Fellows. Once they complete the program, NCSU Cohort Fellows will earn a NC school principal license and a Master of School Administration degree.
